Loose Ring Snaffle Blue Sweet Iron Curved Bit w Copper Lozenge (UKSALES25® Horse Bits)
The combination of the Blue Sweet Iron mouthpiece & the Copper Lozenge promotes salivation & acceptance.
The added benefit of a copper lozenge gives a warm feel in the mouth and reduces the nutcracker effect of this bit.
The sweet iron metal oxidizes and a sweet taste is produced which is preferred by some horses.
Sweet Iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity, the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production.
This will cause the horse to salivate more, which in turn will encourage a better acceptance of the bit. The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue colour.
This is the desired effect of the Sweet Iron bits. If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may form on the mouthpiece.
Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
PLEASE NOTE:
BLUE COLOUR WILL FADE WITH THE PASSAGE OF TIME
THE BIT WILL GO RUSTY AND IT’S ENTIRELY NORMAL.
