This is a cross between the American gag and the Elevator.
It is a popular showjumping and cross country bit as it offers more control and precision.
It has a lifting effect in front and is especially good for showjumping as you can sit the horse more on its hocks (bottom) and turn tight.
Blue Sweet Iron Benefits:
The combination of the Blue Sweet Iron mouthpiece & the Brass Alloy Links promotes salivation & acceptance.
The added benefit of a Brass Alloy Roller links gives a warm feel in the mouth and reduces the nutcracker effect of this bit.
The sweet iron metal oxidizes and a sweet taste is produced which is preferred by some horses.
Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
